Tyler, The Creator Goes White-Face/Black-Face in Visual For “BUFFALO”

To help ease our transition from September to October, 24 year old artistic powerhouse Tyler, The Creator dropped a heavily thought-provoking visual for “BUFFALO”, as well as a 90s themed visual for “FIND YOUR WINGS”, both tracks which can be found on Tyler’s latest album Cherry Bomb.

The 5 and a half minute clip opens with Tyler, fully painted in white with notably ashy lips, is hanging from a sinister looking tree — the type you’d see in a Tim Burton movie — as he is being chased by an African American mob carrying pitchforks, bats, and axes. Makes you think, doesn’t it? As verse 2 of “BUFFALO” comes around, when Tyler is exclaiming how he seems to be the only leader “in the house”, he then paints a black face over his already ashy white face as he speaks in front of a podium to the group that was previously chasing him.

Then, as all Tyler, The Creator music videos go, the video cut to a new visual at around 2 and a half minutes. This would be the visual for “FIND YOUR WINGS”, which paid tribute to all those 70s, 80s, and 90s live music shows. Watch the full video above.Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 9.19.57 PM
