It all started with a $5000 endorsement check. Now, those $5000 have been flipped into many-thousands of dollars (maybe a million), a clothing brand, and a store in New York City for young entrepreneur and designer Glyn Brown. As founder and creative director of 448c, Glyn Brown has introduced a new style and aesthetic. The designer has emphasized on distressing, minimalistic designs, and a philosophy that he incorporates in his clothing. Brown has recently opened a store in NY where his clothing can be purchased in a more person-to-person fashion, rather than online. I guess what we all should be saying to Glyn Brown is not only thank you, but congratulations.
Occupation: Product specialist, retail consultant, vlogger, designer
Jacob Keller is best known for styling the world. I mean, think about it. He takes his clothing rack, his camera, and he films himself talking in-depth about dope clothing. People watch him on his channel and say “Hey, I could wear that!”, then then purchases the clothing recommended to them by this dude on YouTube who really knew what was talking about. I call this a world stylist. But, sitting and explaining his clothing rack to thousands of people isn’t all 22-year-old Jacob Keller does.
Keller is frequently commissioned to shoot editorials for big brands and designers. He has also designed clothing for collaborations. His most recent design project was to design 6 pieces for Everard Best’s Lease on Life Society capsule collection. Keller has shot editorials for Finish Line, Represent Clothing and personally generated almost $50,000 in sales for menswear boutique Machus during a retail consult and implement promotional campaign. What else have you done, Jacob?
Occupation: Designer, co-owner
Known for: Lease on Life Society, style
Everard Best is doing his Everard best (yes, I just did that) with his clothing brand. The co-owner of the high quality, abstract clothing brand Lease on Life Society made a name for himself this past year after being one of the most slept on designers. Now, with the help of his father, Nigel Best, working as the other half of the brand, they have both created one hell of a line and attracted one hell of an audience.
Occupation: Film director, musician
Known for: Uzi, “Money”, music, style
That cool dude with the green hair and camcorder has made a fantastic name for himself over the years. Although many may think that name is Uzi, it’s actually Gabe. He is 1/2 of Uzi, which is a music duo. Uzi is known for his many music projects and directorial work. The duo is also recognzied for their modern pioneering of VHS and dope music. Their musical talents have brought multiple opportunities to their table including working with Travis $cott, Kid Cudi, and even opening for Wiz Khalifa. Who knows how many other amazing opportunities lie in the way of Uzi. What can’t they do?
Occupation: Photographer, blogger
Known for: Places+Faces, photography, style
You’ve most likely heard of Places+Faces. The episodic webseries and movement documenting the hottest shit happening in NY, London, Paris, or pretty much anywhere around the world. This is all thanks to one man — Solomon Boyede. The genius behind Places+Faces keeps it very lowkey that he’s the one behind the iconic concept, but there is no question as to whether or not he and the idea of Places+Faces is genius. The movement has amassed a following of over 20,000 strong, and it continues to grow everyday.
Occupation: Model, stylist
Known for: Yeezy Season 1, style, photoshoots, magazine features
The new “It” boy Luka Sabbat is whom every young, stylish man wishes they were and who every girl wishes they had. I said that right, right? The point is, this young man has accomplished more at 17 than some 37 year olds. For example, he is in almost every fucking fashion magazine in the history of ever, he has modeled for Kanye West in the Yeezy Season 1 show, he also ate dinner with Kanye West, he is a stylist, he’s doing photoshoots everyday, and his style is just on another level.
Luka Sabbat has a following of over 106,500. If you look at all he has done in his career then check his social media numbers, it’s safe to say he is indeed the new “It” boy.
Known for: Art, designing, not giving a fuck, style
He doesn’t own a brand. He’s not a photographer. He’s not even a model. He’s simply just 16 year old Austin Butts (aka Asspizza). While being Austin Butts, he has set a trend for not giving a fuck. At all. An average day in the life of Austin is the teenage dream: having a lot of money, taking Ubers to random places, buying shit he doesn’t need, hanging with friends and just living the life. What more could a kid ask for?
Known for: Summer Note cap, the Gianni Mora brand
Gianni Mora is probably one of the most trendsetting teenagers of today. Why is that? He could be the one responsible for the huge cap pandemic that took over the last few months. That’s right, the famous “I think about you sometimes…” cap is most likely what started it all. After the cosign from Ian Connor and Wiz Khalifa last year, this 17 year old kid from California was instantly making more money and gaining more fame than the kids who messed with him and their parents combined. Wow.
Fast forward a year later, Gianni Mora has a well established brand where he designs and sells clothing and caps. Over the past year, the young designer has gained a fanbase of over 24,000 followers. His tweets and the personality he portrays online is either liked or disliked, but either way, Gianni couldn’t care less what anyone thinks of him. And honestly, that’s the best way to go about it.
Known for: Being Ian Connor
The proclaimed “King of the Youth” has been making headlines, magazine appearances and even clothing since he first entered the scene only a few years ago. It is safe to say that Ian is way ahead of his time, with his mature taste and mindset. Connor has scored multiple modeling and styling gigs, mainly with Wiz Khalifa and father figure A$AP Rocky. The 22 year old has amassed a following of almost 300,000 and impacted the lifestyle of many. And by “impacted the lifestyle of many”, of course I mean there are thousands of dudes trying to copy the style that only Ian Connor can successfully pull off.
Occupation: Rapper, producer
Known for: Music, style
The 22 year old rap-rockstar has raised the bar high not only in music, but also in fashion. His personal style is on another level compared to many and he makes it look like it’s nothing. He can be recognized for shining a new light on the Raf Simons x Sterling Ruby collection last year and gathering hype around the high-end designers in the hip hop world. The Houston native will continue to shine and bring new sounds, style, and trends to the world.
Known for: Music, style, Supreme hype
Tyler, The Creator is simply one of the most influential and innovative artists of our time. Tyler has achieved so much in his life for himself, his friends, and a shit-load of other people. With inspiration coming from Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Eminem, and plenty of other artists, it is safe to say he has what it takes be a genius. As for trends, what trend has Tyler not set?
First of all, Tyler, The Creator is the one who shined a new light on the world renown NY streetwear brand Supreme. I guess you could say he made it cool for the kids. Not that Supreme wasn’t already cool, he just made it cooler. Second, Tyler’s sound and production is like none other, and many rappers/producers take that and try to make it their own. The Golf Wang leader has set trends in so many areas, it’s getting hard to keep up! Lastly, Tyler is well known for his wild behavior and vivid sense in style. The printed tees, the vans, the snapbacks, the no-fucks-given attitude; all of that was Tyler and his gang. So, if not Tyler, the number one trendsetter and influential member of the youth should be the entire Golf Wang roster.
